Confidential Calf Ranch & Dairy Operation
Ampleo was hired by a calf ranch/dairy operation in Kuna, ID at the request of its primary secured lender as a financial advisor to assist in a financial restructuring of the company’s debt. At the time Ampleo was hired, the operation had $55M outstanding in a working capital line of credit and $12.5M outstanding in term debt. The secured debt was held by a syndicate of lenders. Ampleo prepared a restructuring plan that called for the downsizing of its fat cattle business and redirected its resources to become a custom feed operation – significantly reducing market risk. It also helped improve the operating profitability of its dairy business, during a time when milk prices were at depressed values. Ampleo led the negotiations in a successful forbearance agreement, which the operation is performing against. The line of credit has been paid down to $8.5M, with the remaining inventory / AR securing the loan totaling $11M. Ampleo also helped ensure reporting requirements were prepared timely and accurately and helped manage the relationship between lender and borrower. The company remains in business today, is in compliance with all loan covenants, and has returned to the performing portfolio in the bank.

Comprehensive Mobile Care
EMBEDDED HR SUPPORT AT A CRITICAL MOMENT
Comprehensive Mobile Care enhances control and shifts from HR firefighting to long-term strategy
INTRODUCTION
Comprehensive Mobile Care is a family-owned provider of onsite dental, podiatry, optometry, and audiology services. For over 25 years, the organization has delivered ethical, compassionate care to senior and veteran communities. When a sudden internal leadership gap left the business without HR support, management needed help—fast.
CHALLENGE
The unexpected departure of an HR lead created an urgent need for HR and finance support. With no one to handle onboarding, payroll, compliance, or employee relations, the management team was left shouldering the work themselves on top of leading the business. Already stretched thin, they needed a partner who could step in immediately, bring clarity, and rebuild the HR function from the ground up for a company growing 50% a year.
SOLUTION
Referred by a trusted investor, Ampleo HR responded quickly. Within 48 hours, Alexis was embedded as a dedicated HR partner, fully integrated into Comprehensive Mobile Care’s systems, team, and daily operations.
Alexis brought both structure and strategy, taking on:
- Onboarding, I-9s, payroll, and benefits administration
- Compliance tracking and reporting across multiple states
- Manager support and resolution of day-to-day employee requests
- The foundation for longer-term HR planning and measurement
Three months into the engagement, the nature of the work began to evolve—from reactive admin tasks to proactive people ops. Alexis helped the team measure attrition, assess labor costs, and support manager development.
RESULTS
- Time saved for leadership: 20 to 40 hours a week reclaimed by executive team
- Compliance reestablished: Multi-state reporting, insurance filings, and onboarding brought back online
- Transition to strategy: Moved from admin execution to people metrics and manager enablement
- Stronger internal trust: HR embedded in daily operations and employee problem-solving
“The biggest ROI is time back to me as a leader. Alexis anticipates and helps close issues before they escalate. I sleep easier knowing the buck can often stop at her desk, and not mine.”
—Saad Hirani, President, Comprehensive Mobile Care
CONCLUSION
Ampleo HR delivered more than a quick fix. By embedding directly into the business, we helped Comprehensive Mobile Care enhance operations, increase confidence in HR in a people focused business, and build an HR function that supports their mission. With day to day fires behind them, the team is now focused on long-term people strategy for its valued field assistants, and organizational health.

Cohn & Schwartz: How Ampleo HR Delivered Results Where Traditional Recruiting Fell Short
Introduction
Cohn & Schwartz, a well-regarded personal injury law firm in Orange County, CA, faced a persistent hiring challenge: filling a critical paralegal role with the right blend of experience, professionalism, and cultural fit. After internal recruiting efforts and partnering with a legal-industry-specific recruiter fell short, the firm turned to Ampleo HR.
Jessica Acosta, an HR consultant with Ampleo, brought a fresh, consultative approach—leveraging modern sourcing tools, deep screening expertise, and a commitment to quality over quantity. What followed was more than just a successful hire: It was a model for how recruiting has evolved in today’s competitive talent landscape.
Challenge
The firm needed to hire a qualified paralegal in a highly competitive, localized talent market. Unfortunately, internal recruiting efforts had stalled, and a prior engagement with a legal-specific recruiter produced underqualified candidates. Cohn & Schwartz expected a high volume of candidates but instead received low-quality resumes from candidates who lacked critical soft skills, relevant experience, and cultural alignment.
Solution
Ampleo HR led a detailed intake process to understand the role, firm culture, and what success looked like in the position. Instead of overwhelming the client with resumes, the partner took the following course of action:
- Adopted a proactive outreach strategy using LinkedIn and tapped into local paralegal groups—beyond the reach of traditional recruiters
- Focused on presenting only the best-fit candidates, resulting in just three on-site interviews but two solid offers
- Coached the client to rethink selection criteria to avoid disqualifying viable candidates prematurely
Throughout the process, communication was constant—Ampleo HR regularly met with the client to align on feedback, recalibrate expectations, and ensure transparency throughout the search. This ensured that the relationship became a true partnership built on trust, responsiveness, and expertise in both sourcing and advising.
“Recruiting today isn’t just about knowing the right people—it’s about knowing where and how to find the right people. Tools like LinkedIn have revolutionized the game, and our strength at Ampleo HR is using them strategically, screening thoroughly, and being true partners to our clients.”
—Jessica Acosta, HR Consultant, Ampleo HR
Results
The engagement highlighted how Ampleo’s holistic, modern recruiting model outperforms traditional industry-specific approaches by delivering the following results, all within a three-month period:
- 3 candidates brought on-site
- 2 offers extended
- 1 successful hire of a paralegal, who remains a high-performing team member more than seven months later
Cohn & Schwartz rehired Ampleo HR for a second paralegal search due to its satisfaction. The firm even went so far as to refer Ampleo to other attorneys, underscoring its trust in the process and results.
Conclusion
Cohn & Schwartz’s experience shows that relying solely on industry-specific recruiters can limit outcomes. With the talent landscape constantly shifting, firms need recruiting partners who understand both the tools and the strategy behind great hiring. Ampleo HR delivered more than just a hire—it delivered peace of mind, long-term value, and a better way forward.

CML Metals Inc.
Ampleo was the Assignee in an Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors case administered in St. George, UT. The subject company, a defunct mining operation, sold most of its assets and retained certain claims against vendors. The Assignee’s duties include pursuing claims against those vendors and distributing assets to dozens of creditors.

Chargeback
BACKGROUND
Chargeback is redefining dispute management through a SaaS-based platform that helps businesses recover lost time and revenue while transforming any negative customer interaction into one that drives brand loyalty and increases acceptance rates. Chargeback is an enterprise-grade solution in use by hundreds of companies worldwide.
CHALLENGE
Chargeback’s previous outsourced controller wasn’t closing the month in a timely manner and didn’t complete complicated invoicing processes on time.
SOLUTION
They hired Ampleo that placed a controller in their accounting department who implemented processes and procedures to close the month and complete invoicing. Chargeback’s historical financials were cleaned up and procedures were implemented to close the month quickly, and the invoicing process was improved and completed on time.
CONTINUED SUCCESS
Ampleo was instrumental in assisting Chargeback as it sold in a private transaction to Sift.

Carleton Farms
Ampleo was the duly appointed receiver by the Oregon State Court to manage and oversee a potato farm and cattle operation in Merrill, Oregon (see case #17CV56444 in the Circuit Court of the State of Oregon, Klamath County). In addition to administering the real property, equipment, and inventory, the receiver conducted a review of the company’s books and records to establish whether fraudulent activities occurred and to determine what recoveries of fraudulent transfers might be available for distribution to creditors. After the sale of land, livestock, crop inventory, and the collection of other assets, the receiver disbursed funds pursuant to an order of the Court, and according to absolute priority rules.

Burt Brothers
BACKGROUND
Ron and Wendel Burt started in the tire business in 1977, working for Goodyear Tire and then for a local independent tire sales and install shop. In 1991, the two brothers decided to set out on their own. After mustering courage (and scraping up resources), they opened the first Burt Brothers store in Bountiful, Utah. Building on the motto of “Burt Brothers Does It Better”, the chain expanded to currently 15 operating locations, with more planned for the future, becoming the largest independent tire sales and auto service business in northern Utah. At the end of 2018, Ron and Wendel decided it was time to start transitioning out of the business and sold a majority share of the business to their five sons who had been working in the business. In 2021, Burt Brothers were voted the “Top Shop” by Tire Review magazine for being the best independent tire and service dealer in the US.
CHALLENGE
The sale of majority ownership of the business to the next generation of Burt Brothers resulted in moving from a fairly simple organizational structure to multiple companies with multiple owners having varying interests and objectives. Further, operational oversight responsibilities were divided up based on the skills and interests of the now five Burt Brothers who had worked in the business. One of the new owners, Brandon Burt, who had taken the lead in finance and administration of the business when his father left on a sabbatical, realized through overseeing the accounting department that Burt Brothers current accounting, finance, and planning capabilities needed to improve. They did not have accurate internal financial statements, cash flow planning was lacking, and strategy/longer-term planning was not well-coordinated. He knew the Board could not keep making strategic decisions to grow and open more stores solely based on whether or not there was money in the bank. The ability to effectively manage the company buy-out program with the fathers, who were also board members, was also lacking and a significant challenge based on how it was structured. In early 2019, Brandon concluded the accounting and finance support team did not have the expertise to provide the leadership with the needed information, insight, and guidance, so they reached out to Ampleo for help.
SOLUTION
Burt Brothers engaged an outsourced Ampleo CFO to provide mentoring and leadership, working with the current finance and accounting team to tighten up processes and start down a planning and budgeting path. After four months into the mentoring engagement with Ampleo, Brandon realized the company had outgrown its current finance leadership and needed someone with more experience and expertise. In June of 2019, Burt Brothers engaged Ampleo to provide “full-time expertise, part-time support” to help them get to the level they needed to better run the business and manage the affairs. With Ampleo’s help, Brandon Burt said, “We are now light years ahead of where we were before.” Now they have a plan for their sales and expenses, monitoring for their processes, programs to watch where they are making money and losing money, and a better handle on when, where, and if they can grow. They have even grown their accounting department by adding two more people through the direction and guidance of their outsourced Ampleo CFO.
CONTINUED SUCCESS
Before Burt Brothers hired Ampleo, they were a good, growing family-owned business. However, with the added insights and direction from Ampleo, they have been able to better manage their current business and future growth in ways they had never thought of before. Now Burt Brothers’ goal is to use the increased knowledge and strategic guidance that Ampleo has provided to continue to grow rapidly and manage the health of their stores.
“Whether you feel like your company is successful or not, I would encourage any business to hire Ampleo to come in and look at their company’s processes, financials, and how you are making decisions. Don’t be afraid to let Ampleo tell you what you don’t know.”
– Brandon Burt, Owner of Burt Brothers Tire and Service

Biotron Laboratories and Talus Mineral Company
BACKGROUND
For more than 40 years, Salt Lake City-based Biotron Laboratories and Talus Mineral Company (Collectively “Biotron”) has been a leading manufacturer of premium specialty minerals, trace elements, and other solutions for the nutritional supplements industry.
CHALLENGE
After receiving a lot of inbound interest for an acquisition, Biotron’s investment bank, G2 Capital Advisors convinced them that they needed a quality of earnings (QofE) report. Based on the types of parties looking at buying Biotron, and because of the lack of auditing and accounting Biotron had internally, getting a QofE was essential for a sell-side transaction.
SOLUTION
With the help from Ampleo, Biotron was able to clean up its financials, merge Talus’ and Biotron’s financials, and became GAAP compliant. After this initial clean-up phase, Ampleo was able to deliver a clearer QofE report that better reflected Biotron’s business and gave them confidence as they went through the transaction process. Dave Johnson, CEO of Biotron said, “Before working with Ampleo, we thought we knew our business, but the work Ampleo provided gave us more confidence during the transaction process because we knew our numbers were accurate and it allowed us to negotiate better with buyers.”
CONTINUED SUCCESS
Aceto, a supplier of life sciences and advanced technology specialty ingredients, acquired Biotron Laboratories and Talus Mineral Company on March 2, 2022. Since the transaction, Biotron plans to continue to grow its brand to 50-75 million in revenue.
“For valuation and QofE, I think it is invaluable. I wish we would have come to Ampleo six months sooner. It would have helped us have a more complete picture going into the transaction process.”
– Dave Johnson, CEO at Biotron

Better Butter
BACKGROUND
Founder David Shamy gave homemade garlic butter to friends and family each holiday season as a thoughtful gift. As this family favorite grew in popularity, he realized there was a market for gourmet butter. So, he moved his operations to a small, commercial kitchen and began to increase his production levels. He began to add sweet and savory flavors to his repertoire and Chef Shamy gourmet butters took off. In March of 2021, Chef Shamy was sold to a private equity group and has now rebranded as Better Butter. Since that acquisition, the company brought in all new leadership and is positioning itself for continued growth.
CHALLENGE
After the acquisition, Ken Bayne was brought on as the new CFO. Ken quickly realized there were a lot of inconsistencies with the financials and little to no processes and procedures in place. Before the acquisition, Better Butter had never closed the books at the end of each month, so Ken needed to quickly get in place some month-end close processes and account reconciliations. Ken’s team was very lean and he needed to hire someone that could quickly join the team to assist without having to hire someone full-time for a short-term role.
SOLUTION
Ken Bayne reached out to Ampleo for help with these short-term projects. One of Ampleo’s consultants quickly assisted with organizing month-end close processes, building a cash flow forecast, and training the staff on how to use it. Ampleo also assisted in building a new chart of accounts in QuickBooks, providing ongoing feedback to the staff, and keeping things moving along while Ken focused on the big picture. Ken said, “The things Ampleo helped me with were things I could have done myself, but I didn’t have time for. Having Ampleo as a resource that I could turn on and turn off in 6 months was really valuable and super helpful.”
CONTINUED SUCCESS
Ampleo’s ability to quickly deliver an experienced consultant to assist in these projects allowed Ken to focus his time on staffing a high-performing team and establishing the fundamental building blocks of a best practice-driven financial organization. Ken said, “Without Ampleo’s help, I’m sure we would have eventually gotten everything done, but we wouldn’t have been as far along as we are now.” As the company grows, implementing robust and scalable processes and platforms is important to the success of the company. Furthering the private equity owners’ goals, Ken’s goal is to build a financial organization that delivers timely and accurate financial information and enhances the value of the company.
“It was so helpful to have high-quality, part-time talent available to us through Ampleo.”
– Ken Bayne, CFO at Better Butter
“If you are looking to hire Ampleo, make sure you first know what you want from them. You are hiring premium people at a premium price and you will want to hit the ground running instead of running in circles. Utilize them and get the most out of them.”
– Ken Bayne, CFO at Better Butter
“Knowing I had a resource like Ampleo that I could turn on and turn off in 6 months was really valuable. You are not paying a cheap price but you will get a lot of value out of them. Ampleo gave us the opportunity to get things done quicker.”
– Ken Bayne, CFO at Better Butter

Over 30 years and 13,000+ engagements, we've seen most industries and most business situations.
Engagement length varies based on the problem and the function. Some clients bring us in for a specific project: a sales tax cleanup, a business valuation, an HR audit. Others work with us on an ongoing basis as their fractional finance, marketing, or HR team. We stay as long as the work requires.
Results depend on the function and the starting point. Common outcomes include stronger financial visibility and planning, marketing that converts, HR infrastructure that scales, resolved sales tax exposure, and stabilized businesses that were in distress. Our case studies show specific results across each service area.
Yes. Our turnaround and restructuring practice specifically serves businesses in financial or operational crisis. We also work with companies that aren't in crisis but have a function that's fallen behind and is quietly limiting growth.
Yes. Many clients work with us across finance, HR, and marketing simultaneously. Because it all runs through one firm, the work is coordinated rather than siloed across multiple vendors with separate agendas.
